Project Inspired by: A friend at work, named Lew, told me he left water bottles outside overnight in freezing temperatures, then got the water to freeze instantly by shaking them. Since then, I've seen multiple videos on YouTube demonstrating the effect of supercooled water, and had multiple requests to make a video.

Sounds like something fun to try at home. I'll have to try it out one of these days.

Wasn't there a supercooled Fresca incident back at NJIT?

I don't know if you'd call it an "incident", but yes, I remember.

Bill had left a Fresca in a mini-fridge in the dorm room and it froze. Upon opening, a column of Fresca Squishee rose out of the opening.

Similar to the "You can do it with soda" link, but not quite as nice. You apparently have to be very careful opening the can to have it pour out cleanly and then freeze up in your glass.
